1 day introduction course suitable for beginners, age 8+ due to health and safety requirements. Please bring a snack, lunch, refillable water bottle, picnic blanket, card game (or something similar). Your child must be sun creamed up and have suitable clothing on for a nature walk and creating their bespoke artwork.
Once students are happy with their drawing, they transfer it to their linocut block. They can either trace on top of a picture/photo they bring with them or freehand draw.
Now we are ready to start carving. We will begin by outlining the design with a fine V tool then use a wide U-shaped tool. Demonstrations will be given to ensure H&S.
Students then reflect on their outcomes from step 2; selecting if they want to remove or add detail, for a second print. Beautiful for a gift or framed up around the home!

Students begin the workshop discussing ideas and sketching out various design ideas. They consider the layers of paint and how they will embellish their art with hand embroidery.
Our intention is to paint any areas of block colour, depending on their design. We also enjoy the beauty of the Boxmoor Trust panoramic countryside views. We enjoy lunch together on the field followed by a nature walk.
We begin by carefully poking holes through the canvas to allow us to mindfully sew through the canvas. Students reflect on their design and consider alterations, if needed. Students finish taking their bespoke artwork home, with new arty friendships made!
Limited to 12 children per day | NEW DATES TBC for 2025
Watercolours are a great medium to explore due to its unique transparency properties. Watercolours can also be used for layering and creating special effects, such as the illusion of light and reflection. We explore various techniques, including wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, and dry-brush techniques, producing different results. In your Workshop, you are taught to manipulate this wet medium to effectively paint natural objects, landscapes, animals and much more!

This mindful mixed media workshop focuses on the key skills of drawing, layering, experimenting with textures and tones. We will use a variety of old paper from old books etc, and learn to combine media like oil pastels and paint! There is a clear focus at this workshop in creating bespoke art that is meaningful to the child. So, I invite you to bring pictures/photos/music paper or anything that resonates with them to our workshop!
